Happy Father’s Day!

Self portrait in the \"AirTEP\" short-haul platform, a new rescue tool that Snohomish County is trying out.

It’s tough being so far from the family sometimes, since it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day stuff that keeps us all busy. Happy Father’s Day Dad! Love you.

I love you, too, Marco. Thanks for the call. You know I’m proud of the man you are. And not just because you look good in orange.

That is a sweet photo. And, hey, it’s the basket-thingy you were explaining last night!

Hard to believe you could get ten people on that basket thingy. You must have been deep in a corner.

It would be awfully cozy with ten and our helicopter doesn’t have the lift power for that right now. It’s going in for an engine overhaul this summer though, which should bring it up to snuff.

Ever read about the Nepalese pilot who pulled frozen climbers off of Everest in that disastrous climbing expedition? (The one Krakauer wrote about … ) Heroic flying in very, very thin air at altitude.

One of the crew chiefs forwarded a set of info on high altitude heli rescues in the Himalaya — scary stuff. Not a lot of room for error at that height.
